today's update
I know many are still wanting to be a part of going to help with Rushford...there is still quite a bit of clean up needed, especially as you take a look at United Way's website and click to 'register' for a job...there are still many needing help...I know the lady, Joan that we had a team help with already will be needing help again to now re-build...but it won't actually be until she knows how much money she will be getting for materials, etc.....at that time I believe Pastor Ernie will help lead a team to help with that end of things....
If you want to help I would strongly encourage you to go over and help, register through United Way for a time and position that will fit your schedule...
also there is a disaster relief program developed by Root River Community Church, called Flood of Love...its a sponsorship program designed to meet specific needs of flood affected families in the Rushford community....contacts for this are as follows:
Deb Rasmussen 507-864-2373 or 507-459-7021 (cell)
Carol Hyter 507-493-5025 or 507-450-4166
Thanks for your heart to help!

Trip on Saturday, Sept 1
These are some of the pictures I took. You can see the rest by clicking here.
There was lots and lots of mud. About half the work was carrying mud and debris out of the house. Work had been started before we arrived, but there is still much to do.
A blog for updated details...
First of all, thanks for your interest in helping Rushford, MN and other surrounding towns as they now try and recover from the flood disaster of August. I decided to start a blog so we can keep people updated with the many opportunities that are available to assist. I know we are working as a church with specific names of individuals that are given to us and 'adopting' businesses so to speak....and as a church we can post times teams are going over and projects we need people for...but also keep in mind there are MANY ways to volunteer. Feel free to check out the links to the right. United Way has made it really easy to volunteer as an individual or group at any time...just go to their website (linked to the right) and register for a project.
It would be great to hear stories as people keep helping and volunteering, so please if you go over to help, please leave a comment on this blog and let us know how it went. We will be posting frequently on ways YOU CAN HELP!
